This page explains, in plain terms, the cookies and similar bits of storage Hookitlingo uses when you visit the site. For how we handle your personal information more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember something about you between visits, like whether you're logged in. Cookies aren't programs and can't run code on your device on their own.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
hkl_user_session |
Keeps you logged in between visits. This one is required for the site to work; without it, you'd have to log in again on every page. | Essential |
_ga, _ga_* |
Set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and measure how people use the site (which pages get visited, how often, roughly where from). | Analytics |
We don't use cookies for advertising, and we don't sell any information gathered through cookies to third parties.
Some parts of Hookitlingo use your browser's local storage instead of a cookie. This includes:
This information stays in your browser and isn't automatically sent to our servers. Clearing your browser's site data will reset it.
Most browsers let you view, delete, or block cookies through their settings. Blocking the hkl_user_session cookie will prevent you from staying logged in. Blocking analytics cookies won't affect how the site functions for you, it just means we won't see your visit in our usage data.
If you'd rather opt out of Google Analytics specifically across the web, Google provides a browser add-on for that.
If the cookies we use change, such as adding a new analytics or feature tool, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
